Leonard Anthony Noree

Artist in Sweden

__

Leonard Anthony Noree is a visual artist of swedish and english origin based in south Stockholm. He received his artistic training primarily through an apprenticeship with the Venezuelan artist Francisco Blanco.

He also received training from the arctic landscape painter Lennart Forsling and dutch artist Alexander Giebels, and was for some years a member of the artist collective Melanges. He has studied printmaking at Grafikskolan in Stockholm.

He now works independently.

The artist works mostly with painting, printmaking and poetry, often combining all three artforms in different ways. He paints large oil paintings with figures who are intensly emotionally involved in events which are only partly comprehensable to the viewer. Each figure combines paradoxical elements such as density and immateriality, standing still and falling down, fear and tranquility.

As a printmaker he makes large relief prints on paper or canvas, frequently completed with washes of colour, making each print made from the same matrix a unique work of art. He also makes small and intimate intaglio prints.
